Yes, this post is a departure from my usual ones. But it's all about #DIY, I thought it is correct that I carry #ootd. So, here's the back story ... My daughter and I ventured East looking for a place to shoot the post when we saw a big sign for "wine tasting" as we went over the intersection of vineyard and Foothill in Rancho Cucamonga. We were both pretty confused. Now if you are from the LA area you probably have a vague idea how Rancho Cucamonga is (that's all I had for the other day), but for anyone else out there-it's a nice and quiet neighborhood about an hour East of Los Angeles.


all the years I've lived in La it never crossed my mind that growing grapes in the area is even a possibility. It turned out that San Bernardino county has a legitimate claim to California viticulture history. So we went in the wine tailor.



in a typical So Cal shopping plaza on Route 66 (Foothill Blvd) that probably it was a charming tasting room. It is located in a preserved historic adobe brick building that once housed Thomas Winery, the second oldest winery in California.

but this post is not about history or wine tasting (tough visit the wine tailor is definitely worth the drive). What I really wanted to write about is much more mundane and in vain, and that is how do do it yourself Haute Couture jewelry and get your favorite looks from runaways to your daily life.  

If you looked at some of the posts in this blog, you're not going to be surprised when I say that I love the tassels, and for full disclosures, you can expand this statement to I love something that extravagant . I'm not a shy person, and I don't like to use decent clothing! So I immediately fell in love with 2015 Fall RTW Lanvin collection and this one looks especially:

this outfit has it all : the swagger, the tassels, the exotic oriental style. But honestly as much as I love it I'm not ready to spend the money on pieces:

Yes this Bohemian-meeting-Morocco maxi dress is stunning. Patchwork of crepe and silk-blend chiffon gives a whole range and luxurious feel, but I love the tasseled long ties in the version at the fashion show, so Marina tasseled cord belt is also a must:

and is the jewelry. Everyone and not a winning proposition. So I decided to replicate the low-cost fashion with a heavy doze of DIY tricks. So here it is:

some patchwork Bohemian dress will do, but what you really want it's jewelry and belt inspired by Lanvin. So here's how to make your own using what is already available in your mall stores:

MANGO has done the work when it comes to Earrings: fringe earrings $ 20 available here. So you can put a check mark next earrings. Mango is also the basis for the prominent boho tassel necklace
